The problem with noisy banks

Even though we interact less and less with bank tellers due to the popularity of online banking, there are still many instances where we must stand in person before the bank teller. In many banks, we not only struggle to hear what is being said, but we become acutely aware that others can listen into what should be a private conversation. No one wants to experience the embarrassment of talking about late payments or credit issues in front of others.  Not only are the acoustics in the room dreadful due to sound reflecting off all the glass windows, marble floor and hard reflective wall surfaces, but trying to have a confidential conversation in such an echo generating space is – for all practical purposes – impossible. There are also other areas in a bank such as credit manager offices, administration areas and boardrooms require various levels of privacy.

How can Primacoustic help you?

Acoustically treating these spaces can immediately benefit clients and staff alike by providing clear speech intelligibility and the means to contain conversations within isolated zones to secure confidentiality. Since we are primarily concerned with speech intelligibility, frequencies in the voice-range can easily be controlled using 1” (2.5cm) thick Broadway™ acoustic panels. The recommended coverage is between 15% and 20% of available wall space using Impalers™ and installation is as easy as hanging a picture. Placement is not critical. Broadway panels are made from high-density 6lb glass wool and are fully encapsulated with micromesh and resin hardened edges to eliminate dusting. The panels are then hand wrapped in a rugged polyester tweed fabric that makes them well suited for high-traffic areas. For areas that require color matching the interior aesthetics, Primacoustic Paintables™ are the perfect choice. A light dusting using latex paint will not affect the acoustical performance yet enable the panels to perfectly blend into the room décor. Should wall space be limited, Paintable Clouds™ or Saturna™ baffles are ready alternatives. These highly effective absorbers are suspended from the ceiling using eyehooks and adjustable SlipNot™ aircraft wire. Improving the acoustics in areas that have T-Bar ceilings is easily done using StratoTiles™. These are made from the same high-density glass wool and are direct replacements for ineffective ceiling tiles.  For business offices that require confidentiality, Primacoustic ThunderTiles™ combine the absorptive performance of the glass-wool with a heavy gypsum backing board that blocks sound. Once installed, you will enjoy a calming effect on clients, reducing stress and anxiety. This also benefits by reducing ear-fatigue for tellers and aids with communication resulting in less errors and greater productivity. Eliminating excessive echo and reverberation reduces sound spill-over to other areas resulting in greater privacy.
