"Tests with my Mackie HR624s produced noticeably better stereo imaging than mounting the speakers directly on the shelf surface, and the low end seemed much better controlled. Next to sorting out any basic acoustic problems, mounting your speakers correctly is probably the most important thing you can do to improve your monitoring accuracy, and if you're desk-mounting [console-mounting for us on this side of the pond. - Primacoustic Editor] them, I can't recommend highly enough using some kind of isolation pad. The Recoil Stabilizers are the best I've tried..."

"When the recommended ratios were maintained, bass performance in particular was enhanced—tighter low end with improved clarity on the lower mids and detail in the bass and kick, particularly on the attack. Phantom center was tighter and overall imaging improved. The effect was particularly pronounced on desktop, and less so on a good set of massive speaker stands, but still apparent. At a street price of $99 for the tested RX7 pair, you cannot go wrong—the performance improvement is decidedly more significant than a corresponding increase in your loudspeaker budget."

I also tested the VoxGuard in my own studio and again it sounded excellent, tight and clean, helping to cut out the background fans from my various hard drives and computers, a common problem in many home and project studios. In conclusion I would say that in my role as producer, often recording vocals in other peoples properties, I would purchase the VoxGuard to guarantee a clean, tight and separated vocal sound. I would recommend the VoxGuard to anyone recording vocals on location or in an acoustically untreated environment."

"Of course, this is by no means a unique invention, several similar products have used the same principle of a mic-stand mounted near-field sound absorber before, but they all tend to fall into the same trap. They're either very expensive, too heavy (which threatens to send your expensive mic toppling to the floor) or simply ineffective. The VoxGuard however, manages to avoid all of these slip ups by striking the perfect balance of sturdyness and lightness, as well as being large enough and thick enough to provide a noticeable 'flatter' sound with vocals in testing."
