The two most challenging acoustical properties to achieve in any room are high frequency diffusion and low frequency bass trapping. The Polyfuser is a poly-cylindrical device that was developed from the ground up to provide an effective solution to these problems by combining the scattering effect of an elliptical diffuser with the dampening effect of a multi-frequency resonating bass trap for true full bandwidth performance.

The Polyfuser features a high-density fiberboard elliptical membrane with an infinite diffusion pattern that is effective from 160Hz to 10kHz at scattering would-be reflections and breaking up standing waves and flutter echo. While low, mid and high frequencies are being diffused, deep bass frequencies cause the membrane to vibrate, converting acoustic energy into heat. Since the diffusion membrane floats on top of a large acoustic foam-filled cavity, the foam simultaneously dampens the diffusion plate while acting as a low frequency bass trap. Because of the membrane's infinite elliptical curvature, several center frequencies and their associated octaves are able to vibrate at once, providing bass reduction down to 45Hz.

Following the popular live-end, dead-end acoustical model, the Primacoustic Polyfuser is generally mounted in clusters on the receive wall to create a uniform and visually striking appearance. There are two basic models in the series for corner or center positioning. All models are 48” wide and a mere 8.5”- 8.75” deep and may be ordered in 24” or 48” height to adapt to varying walls. Although designed for studio, the Polyfuser may be used in all installations where acoustic control is required, including venues for the performing arts, houses of worship, conference centers and music rehearsal spaces. The Polyfuser comes standard in a black satin finish but may be ordered with a primer coat for painting using your desired color.

Polyfuser wall placement in a 16' x 12' control room

Basic rear wall diffuser placement with the middle profile PF-L48M Polyfuser. Use one or stack two for floor to ceiling coverage. Elininates standing waves at the mix position. Shown with Australis bass traps.

Full rear wall coverage with one middle PF-L48M and two corner PF-L48C Polyfusers. The diffusion area covers the full width of a 12 foot wall eliminating all front to back standing waves at ear level.

Two PF-L48M stacked at mid-wall with Australis bass traps.

One PF-L48M in center with two PF-L48C on sides covers the width of a 12 foot wall.
