Simple mounting system anyone can do!

Perfect for all types of installations

Easy to relocate without marring the walls

Choice of wall, corner, and offset impalers
Broadway panels may be mounted in various methods to suit your specific application. In addition to using typical screws and adhesives Primacoustic has developed a series of impalers to provide the installer with a simple, quick and effective method of mounting Broadway acoustic panels onto walls without causing serious surface defacement.
Each impaler features a series of sharp protruding darts that penetrate the panel to secure it in place. To ensure panels do not get dislodged after installation, applying a dab of construction adhesive to the impaler during the mounting process adds another level of security and reduces opportunity for tampering. Impalers are installed using typical sheet rock anchors and screws.
Alternate installations that can be considered include direct screw down using a long screw and retaining washer. This is typically done using a standard screw and a wide faced washer to hold the panel in place. This is a good option in industrial installations where panels may find themselves in harms way or need to be secured on ceilings. Velcro is also a possible option where light duty installations are needed. Finally, for permanent installations, construction adhesive is used by applying a generous bead around the circumference and then crossing from corner to corner. Use a surface impaler to anchor the panel while the adhesive cures.
Whatever your choice, Broadway panels are sure to provide a great looking and effective installation!
Primacoustic surface mount impalers are designed to mount Broadway fiberglass acoustic panels directly onto the wall surface. This is the most popular mounting system and is ideal for studio and home-theatre. For commercial installations, adding a dab of construction adhesive on the impaler surface will add a measure of security. Best of all, unlike spray-on installations, using impalers will not cause serious wall surface defacement.

Primacoustic Offset impalers offer an effective method to increase bass absorption by introducing an air space behind the panel. This unique impaler features a U-shaped design with pivoting darts for left-hand or right-hand installations. The deep 3½” stand-off matches that of a typical 2”x4” making it easy to use in conjunction with standard building supplies. By adding the cavity, an additional octave of bass attenuation can be achieved! [specifications PDF 260k]
For greater bass absorption, corners are the ideal target in which to place bass traps. Primacoustic Corner Impalers are easy to install with a V-shaped design equipped with pivoting darts for left-hand or right-hand wall mounting. A typical 24" x48" Broadway panel will create a 17" deep corner cavity and provide excellent bass absorption down to the trouble some 100Hz region. Stacked panels in corners produce a seamless look that is esthetically appealing and highly effective. Check out the Primacoustic corner bass trap TechNote for more information. Depending on the size of the Broadway panels you have
selected and the degree of security you feel you need, a
different number of impalers will be required. The minimum
number of impalers for Broadway panels are detailed below. Impalers should be spaced so there is
approximately a two inch boarder from the edge of the impaler
to the edge of the panel. Make
sure the impalers will clear the fabric that wraps around the
back. Avoid pushing the impalers through the fabric edge.
Broadway panels are heavy enough to cause injury should
they fall from a height. When mounting Broadway panels in
overhead locations ensure there is sufficient impaler clips to
prevent accidental dislodgement.

Tools required: level, drill, screw driver, plastic wall anchors.
Begin by deciding where you would like the Broadway panels
to be installed. The area should then be marked with a pencil
using a straight edge and a level. Following the diagrams below,
mount the impalers on the wall. When mounting on standard
sheet rock (gypsum board) we recommend using plastic
drywall anchors. For wood, the impalers may be screwed into
place using one inch wood screws. For concrete wall surfaces,
options include drilling and mounting with concrete fasteners
or gluing the impalers directly on the concrete surface. Please
consult your local hardware store to ensure you select the appropriate adhesive for this type of installation.

 |
| Use a straight-edge and a level to
mark out pencil lines. Mark a TOP line
for the panels. Mark a second SET line
one inch higher. Mark points along the
TOP line indicating the panel edges
and gaps between panels. |
According to the chart above, measure
in from the edge points and down
from the TOP line to mark the center
locations for impaler clips. Mount the
impaler clips with tips pointing up with
two plastic drywall anchors or screws
for each clip. |
Tilt the panel so just the top edge is
touching the wall. Be careful not to
touch the back of the panel to the impalers
yet. Line up your panel with the
SET pencil line and edge marks you
made in step one. Placing a level on
the top of the panel will help the panel
to stay straight. |
Once the panel is level on the SET
line bring the back in contact with all
the impalers tips and apply pressure
in and down. The panel will slide onto
the impalers and sink down about one
inch. Use the TOP pencil line to con
firm placement is level. If alignment is
off the panel may be nudged up to a
1/4” to make it level. |
